About the Collection

General

The William C. Jason Library uses digital technology to collect, preserve, and provide access to information, to support the research and teaching at Delaware State University. The digital collections are open to students, faculty, staff, alumni and the general public.

Our digitized material is not an exact reproduction of the original materials. Our materials are of good quality, and design to allow our patrons to view them on their desktop computers or mobile devices. When possible, to increase access through full-text search, we digitized the materials with optical character recognition.

Purpose

To satisfy the Title III five year (2015-2020) Student Aid and Fiscal Responsibility Act (SAFRA) grant. The activity title is, Improving Library Services and Research Support: Collaboration, Literacy, Courses, and Assessments. The activity supports the following Institutional Goals:

  • Goal 1 – Intellectual Climate And Culture: Create an exceptional learning environment that promotes challenging, high-quality curricular and co-curricular programs, engaged student learning, and local and global citizenship.
  • Goal 5 - Sustainability: Enhance and extend the University’s environmental stewardship through education, research, outreach, conservation and innovation.
  • Goal 6 – Institutional And Operational Effectiveness: Enhance, leverage and diversify our resources to fulfill the University’s mission.

Library Materials Composition

The materials that compose our digital collections are optimized for online information seeking and archived for long-term digital preservation. The digital materials for the majority of our collections are selected existing books and print media from the William C. Jason Library collections.
